Father’s Day Follow-up

Monday, June 18, 2007

Father’s 2007 Day was a lot of fun! The fish cooperated!

A total of 56 fish were caught in the one hour of the Toe Fishing Contest. The McMurtrey family caught the most with 8 fish. Dwayne, the father caught none but his family, wife Donelle and sons Sam and Luke were the catchers. The last we saw of them they were having a great time spending the $150 gift certificate on Orr Family Farm!

The Pedal Pull Contest was a blast with several winners — in fact six received trophies and winning their age group makes them eligible for the State Championship to be held the Saturday after Labor Day at the Cleveland County Fair. Registration begins at 9 am.

The Qualifiers were:
Lily Dremel – age 4   Pulled it 67”
Mackencie Porter – age 6   Pulled it 112”
Owen Dremel – age 6   Pulled it 173”
Sam McMurtrey – age 6  Pulled it 127"
Harrison Dowell – age 8   Pulled it 251”
Hannah Dowell – age 11   Pulled it 312”!

The Cow Milking Contest had a handicap — ”Bessie”, our fiberglass cow only had three ‘spigots’ working on her udder. So we gave three $25 gift certificates to the three top families — the Dowells, the Timms and the LaVeans.

All had a great time and promised to be back next year

Gran pedalsThe pedal car track at Orr Family Farm is such fun — for kids of all ages!

This is a recent photograph of a "youthful" visitor in a delightful spring bonnet — enjoying some exercise and sunshine on the pedal cars!  She is a youthful 91!!

Season passes

Saturday, June 9, 2007

Many of our visitors are first-time visitors and others come back over and over. If you enjoy coming to the Orr Family Farm all through the year, then the season pass is for you. Here is what one family had to say about the season pass.

Dr. and Mrs. Orr and family

I would like to thank you for the outstanding family activities that your Family Farm has provided to our family for the past three years. This has been our 3rd year of being Season Pass holders. We not only have purchased season passes for ourselves and our daughter, we have purchased season passes for our daughter’s friends to enjoy the farm with us.

We had not even noticed the Orr Family Farm even with driving by it on a daily basis in 2004. It was not until Tabitha’s daycare, Adventures in Learning, went on a field trip to the farm that we realized it was there. Tabitha, who was 8 at the time, talked and talked about the farm until we went to check it out. Since then, it has been a place where we can relax and Tabitha can enjoy all the activities.

I grew up in the country in Colorado, near my family’s farm, and was able to spend time with horses, goats and other animals. Farm animals were somthing Tabitha only saw once a year. Now she can go as often as she wants during your open season (April through December).

Your sense of community and giving back to the Oklahoma schools with your annual Pumpkin Decorating contest is very kind.

The Season Passes allow us to drop by the farm for visits of any duration (I must admit we have stopped by for a very short visit to only purchase fresh Kettle corn, for ourselves and neighbors). With so many activities at the farm, the Season Passes have paid for themselves many times over.

We look forward to the opening of the farm each year to see what new activities you have added at the farm. The pedal cars are a hit with our family during the cool months, hayrides in the fall and the Christmas lights during the Holiday Season.

We appreciate your friendly staff and family members that are always at the farm. We feel welcomed each time we arrive.

Sincerely,

Rob, Tara & Tabitha
