About the Family

A Family Business

Some 49 years ago, when Dr. Glenn Orr married his [lovely and patient] wife Shari, little did they know that their offsping and their offspring’s offspring would be working together on a family recreation area that is dedicated to agri-education. Dr. Orr, a graduate of the Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine, is a retired veterinarian and horseman who has also owned a successful equine insurance business and many apartment units throughout Oklahoma City.

Horse Farm

The Orrs have owned the farm known as Celestial Acres for 30 years. With 240 horse stalls, a race training track, an indoor and a outdoor arena, it is the largest horse training center in Oklahoma! The Orr Family Farm was carved out of part of the 106 acres comprising the farm. Shari, Dr. Orr’s wife, has truly been a hard working partner for all their married life. She is a wonderful caring person. You may get to meet her as she is usually in the Ticket Booth.

According to Dr. Orr, the focus from his continuing business ventures to the prospect of the Orr Family Farm seemed like a natural progression of his life’s work. From the beginning, the idea of the Orr Family Farm was to create a legacy for his grandchildren, as well as for central Oklahoma. The farm would offer educational insight into Oklahoma’s agricultural history and heritage, while also building from the ground up a unique attraction that would provide pure enjoyment for all ages.

The Rest of our Family

The Orrs’ have 4 children and 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Their son Tom and his wife Debbie, both graduates of the University of Oklahoma School of Business, have worked in the family business since they were married in 1988. Tom is an avid Thoroughbred horseman that oversees the breeding, training and racing of the Orr stable. Debbie is the family accountant. They have five children: Brandon, Shelby, Megan, Austin and Sydney that enjoy working on the farm.

This family serves as a nucleus for other family members, longtime employees and recent hires to make the Orr Family Farm one of the most unique attractions in the United States.
